The built in flex helps to stop bending using a spring back effect. This flexibility also aids in reducing rider fatigue by absorbing shocks and vibrations. The bars have a knurled section on clutch end for extra adhesion with the grip. To make alignment simple they have a laser etched center positioning grid.
